The Keywords App

The Keywords App

Overview:

Keywords are our most popular feature of the Text Groove platform. The possibilities to use them are almost endless, which is also why they are completely unlimited,
so feel free to use them as much as you would like! Keywords are most often used used in contesting to trigger events, like auto responses, within Text Groove.

How to Add a Keyword:

Click the green "Add Keyword" button.

Set up the Keyword however you would like by filling out the descending fields on the left side of this screen. The right side of the screen explains each step with a definition.

Select Sender - This is your station number that the Keyword will be sending from - you typically only have one number associated with your Organization, and only one option will appear in your drop down field.

Keyword - Write your single keyword here. Keywords are not case sensitive.

Description - The description is for internal use to describe what the contest is, also good to help decipher one keyword from another if you’re running multiple keyword contests at a time.

Match Type - The default match type is "Exact Match" - This is what we usually say to use for most cases. Exact match will pick up the keyword anywhere in the full line of text that is received. If you have any questions about Match Type, visit our Knowledge Base topic here - Keyword Match Types FAQ

Start Time - Can be set to run instantly or scheduled for later. The Time zone will follow your computer around so you don't have to worry about that.

End Time - Can be set to run instantly or scheduled for later. The Time zone will follow your computer around so you don't have to worry about that.

Auto Reply Message - This is the message that will be automatically sent back to the listener that triggers this keyword. This can be set to "No Reply" - no reply is sent, "Custom Text" - write whatever you want, and "Text from URL" - An advanced feature for developers, email support@textgroove.com for more information - Allows you to to automate URL scripted replies.

  • Example - Custom Text - Hey [first_name], thanks so much for entering! You have been entered to our Stampedey-Oke Contest.

Group Identifier - Allows you to group multiple keyword stats and entries together. Helpful if you are running a multi-day contest with multiple keyword entries.
Used for contesting where only one entry should be counted. Checking this option makes it so that Keywords can only be trigged once per text number.

Contest Mode - Used for contesting where only one entry should be counted. Checking this option makes it so that the Keyword can only be trigged once per number.

Once contest mode is selected, a "Repeat Message Reply" box will appear below it. In the first box, type the number of messages you would like to receive before the next auto-reply will be sent, for contesting, we recommend using "1". Doing this means that after a listener has successfully entered the keyword once, if they try to enter the keyword "1" more time, they will get the "Repeat Message Reply" that you set in the field below.

  • Example - Howdy Partner, you’ve already been added to the list for Stampedey-Oke. Well see you at Ranchmans on July 5th! 🤠

Mark Incoming Messages as Read - This will mark incoming messages that trigger the keyword as read in the main sender window.

Disable Instant Incoming Messages - This will disable the instant page update on the main sender page as to not flood your messages with keyword entries.

Hide Message from Text Groove interface - Hide message from Text Groove interface when viewing profiles under a specific sender. Note: Checking this box, auto checks the above two boxes.

Disable external notifications - This will prevent any external notifications from being processed like sending emails or webhooks.

Allow scheduled automatic replies - By default, if a match is made in keywords it will not trigger scheduled auto replies. If you would like those to still go out if the keyword is matched, check this option.

Typically we recommend checking the box to "Hide Message from Text Groove Interface" - this will keep the keyword entries out of your main inbox page to keep it clear and easy to keep engaging with your audience and not be clogged up with multiple keyword entries.

Once that’s set, just click "Add Keyword" and it's ready to go!
