Overview:
Porting your number from one carrier to another can sometimes affect text routing, but it really depends on the losing and winning carriers (or their upstream providers). We don’t always know in advance if there will be an issue, but we do have experience with some providers.
How Porting Works:
When you port your number, your new provider contacts your old provider to initiate the transfer. The old provider validates the subscriber information and then releases the number to the new provider. Knowing who the losing and winning carriers are might allow us to give you some insight as to whether action needs to be taken.
How To Ensure Text Traffic is Uninterrupted:
Once you know that your number will be porting, contact Text Groove directly at support@textgroove.com ; tell us which carriers are involved and the date in which the port will be taking place. Knowing this info, we will be able to monitor your line on the designated port date, and if we lose routing, we can send you a new Letter of Authorization (LOA) to sign and, in most cases, we can resolve any issues within an hour.
